I have always been an active person. When I was a young adult exercise was mainly an outlet for stress and to simply stay fit.
My real fitness journey began when I hit a low point in my life in my early 30s and was struggling with depression and severe anxiety. I have suffered from anxiety most of my life and had previously been on medication to manage it, and I told myself that I did not want to go that route again. I began hiking like it was my job and threw myself into the gym in order to not only feel better physically but gain confidence and mental strength. The results I saw in myself, were just the catapult I needed to realize that I could train others to feel the same. I knew then that I wanted to help others reach healthy goals, not just physically, but mentally as well. I know how difficult the roller coaster of life can be and how hard it can be to stay on track with fitness and mental health.
I decided then to hunker down and study, and within 6 months I was certified through NASM, one of the top Certified Personal Training programs in the country. I am very proud to continue my education with them and am constantly learning and growing. As many classes that I take to learn more about the human body, I also choose courses that teach the importance of physical fitness and stress, relaxation techniques and meditation. I firmly believe that you cannot be well balanced if your mind and body are not equally fit.
I feel that the thing that sets me apart from other trainers is that I understand that each body and mind is different. Not everyone can eat the same things and be on the same diet. Not everyone learns the same way or enjoys the same activities. I also believe that everyone's path is different and it is important to incorporate their lifestyle, their mental health, and their visions of themselves. My goal is to change how you see fitness and mental health and how you can change your habits in your day to day life. With my personal programs designed specifically for YOU, I will show you that you can overcome your challenges and break free of your negative habits. Taking care of yourself will simply become a part of who you are.
